Hey people!
Who's on for chalet in June?
The last time we had el chalet, we had TREMEDOUS FUN:) Even though it was just joshua, ariel, grace, sonjia, derek, yijin and me, it was fun, fun, fun, and nothing else! I'm really missing the el chalet days.
Plus, the chalet will be a great way for celebration after our efforts at SYF. The seniors can also retire happily after this chalet:)
GOMENASAI

people.. i just have a few points to make.. hope you all will bear will me.
yes, we got a bronze. but, does that really matter? don't think i'm following ms ek.. but this is really what i think. there are 2 kinds of winners, those who win to define their lives and those who win to enrich their lives. for the latter kind of winner, its not so result-orientated.. now, a bronze to me is a win. why..? we have grown as individuals, a group and a CCA. this is one of the many blessings SYF brought to us. why should we overlook the good things we have right in front of us? this SYF has enriched our lives.. that is why a bronze, to me, is a win.
i also want everyone who is feeling sad or disappointed out there to cheer up. if you gave your best, if you know you gave your best, why should you be sad? the ranks are just physical manifestations of what we truly are.. no one can see how good we really are in just 1 show. think of it like we all covered in clothes. we take off our shoes and socks.. and we're graded on that.. but what about the rest of our body? it is not taken into consideration.. if we showed our best "feet" in that analogy, i think we shouldn't regret and move on. life sucks at times. sometimes its unfair. but that is life. yes, our best feet only got a bronze, but perhaps, our waist thrashed the rest upside down. we have surpassed other schools in different fields i'm sure. we HAVE our strong points to be proud of.
we're all stars in our own ways.. just believe in yourself and shine on. this is not the end of the world.. out there, is a much larger world waiting to be explored. there's so much more we can do, we can learn. only those who have failed will appreciate success.
its MYE for sec4s, and term assessment (or whatever you call it) for YEAR1-3s. please people, its not the time to be distracted. i know this kind of emotional things are not easy, but we all have to learn..
life is not about winning all the time, its about improving. don't regret about what we did not do, do it the next time.
because WE'RE NOT GOING TO BE THE ONES CRYING OURSELVES TO SLEEP TONIGHT

If you're thinking about the SYF results, go listen to this song: Situation's Heavy - Sugababes. This song somehow describes the situation right now. Play the song and read the lyrics below. I've attached a youtube link that plays the song (don't watch the video - complete crap, just buffer and listen to the song)
Song: http://youtube.com/watch?v=m155Ye102_o
Making decisions about my life
It's up to me and I start to try
I can't keep running away
Trust my instincts right or wrong
Refusing help try to be strong
I'll fight this one today
Here's my point of view
Wouldn't wanna offend you
Wanna do the best to prove
Push your face ain't gonna lose
Deep and twisted but I refuse
Don't want advice but help to choose
I'll just walk these tracks alone
Use it as a stepping stone
[Chorus:]
Trying to face it all alone
Had to find my own way home
No matter how hard it may be
The situation's heavy
I'm not growing old before my time
Even when there's warning signs
That consequently I can see
The situation's heavy, heavy
How am I supposed to know
Where I want my life to go
If you always hold the plan
And maybe I will learn to lead
It will be my own mistakes
That I can say that's who I am
Here's my point of view
Wouldn't wanna offend you
Wanna do the best to prove
Push your face ain't gonna lose
Deep and twisted but I refuse
Don't want advice but help to choose
I'll just walk these tracks alone
Use it as a stepping stone
[Chorus:]
Trying to face it all alone
Had to find my own way home
No matter how hard it may be
The situation's heavy
I'm not growing old before my time
Even when there's warning signs
That consequently I can see
The situation's heavy, heavy
oooh [etc]
Here's my point of view
Wouldn't wanna offend you
Wanna do the best to prove
Push your face ain't gonna lose
Deep and twisted but I refuse
Don't want advice but help to choose
I'll just walk these tracks alone
Use it as a stepping stone
[Chorus:]
Trying to face it all alone
Had to find my own way home
No matter how hard it may be
The situation's heavy
I'm not growing old before my time
Even when there's warning signs
That consequently I can see
The situation's heavy
Trying to face it all alone
Had to find my own way home
No matter how hard it may be
The situation's heavy
I'm not growing old before my time
Even when there's warning signs
That consequently I can see
The situation's heavy, heavy
*Personally I feel quite tired that we "have to prove ourselves two years later". It's not shameful to get a bronze. We're just made to feel as though this is small matter when it's big business to some people... Anyway, another opportunity in two years' time. Meanwhile, criticism and comments aplenty. But we'll face it all together. I know it. We're one eldds :)

Dear ELDDS,
Congratulations, because we have done well!
I think all of us have tried our best, even though there were a few mistakes. For one, the cast was especially good and everyone was very much focused. The crew also did well and our only mistakes were because the stage was not as dark during the rehearsals and many of us couldn’t adjust. Nevertheless, the crew should be thanked for their hard work.
Our race is over, and now’s the time for us to take stock of what we have done well and what needs to be improved [post mortem on Friday 13 April 2007].
Do rest well and gear up for your next race (mid-years)!
With love,
Wai Min
(On behalf of el comm.)
Dear Ariel&EL,
Wai Min here, response to Ariel's post. I very much agree with her; that if you feel you haven't done your best, it's not too late to make amendments now. It's just tomorrow, but who cares? Better late than never. Put in 100%, please. If you are already putting in 100%, please put in another 100%.
The last few lines of Ariel's post sparked my response entry. She said that she once lost her passion for EL. But she found it back. Thats what's important, to lose it and to finally find it back in the end. Because that's when you will treasure what you have gained back even more.
Tell me, who hasn't lost faith before? I have, I lost my passion last year. But as I've said in my own blog, things are slowing returning to normal and I'm finding my passion back. My passion for el may not be as strong as it was in my sec 1&2 days, but it is, nevertheless, strong. In addition, I'm treating it with extra caution, having lost it once. I'm treasuring it a lot more.
As for the results, I suppose we can only wait. For some, getting a GWH after a bronze might be impossible. And for some, it's probably a silver for us. But my dear el, aim high, so in case we don't get what we really really want, at least we're a step closer to our goals. And when you keep telling yourself that you will get GOLD WITH HONOURS, you just might!
My friend always tells me this, "If you want something really badly and you really wish for it, God and the people around you will make it happen, just for you."
Hello everyone, it's Ariel here.
I read Waimin and Grace's blogs just now. I have this sudden urge to blog about SYF and el here. After reading their entries, I started to wonder about my love for el and my hopes for this current SYF.
I don't know if we're taking this seriously. I wouldn't admit that I'm giving my 100% into the rehearsals, giving my best shot for everything. I hope it's not too late to be making amends right now. I don't hope it's too late to be reflecting on this. I still hope for a Gold. Yes I still want a Gold. Not that a Silver is lousy. But a Gold is something which I've wanted since sec 1.
Ever since sec 1, I knew that el couldn't afford to get anything lesser than Gold. I still remember the previous SYF and how the seniors cried. Trust me, it doesn't feel good to see your seniors cry terribly.
I wonder if everyone's morale is low right now. Frankly speaking, I do notice that some of us don't feel confident of getting a Silver, much less a Gold with Honours. Although Jaina Tan and Renee keep telling us that the results don't matter, in our hearts, we do recognise the need to get a Gold.
El has been struggling all these years to prove to the school that we aren't some kind of slacker club. Perhaps everyone else in RV sees us as slackers, who play stupid games in air-con rooms. In sec 1 and 2, I used to be affected by what the other people thought of our cca. And I'm ashamed to say that I ever once thought of quitting el. But the past is the past - what has been said and what has been done doesn't matter anymore. The fact is, that we have to use this SYF to prove ourselves. To prove our worth. To show the other people that EL CAN DO IT & EL DID IT. We're not some loser club like they always made us out to be.
So what if they compare us to other ccas? Just because other ccas seem to practise more often than we do, it doesn't imply that we're complacent. We do have our rehearsals and our practices. Whether or not they are sufficient, only we ourselves know.
I know we can get a Gold so long as we push ourselves to our limits tomorrow. And Wednesday's gonna be our BEST shot. We're gonna have to do it.
I don't want to quit el. I wouldn't dare say that I love el wholeheartedly throughout my years in RV. I know that I love el. And el is something that is far more important than council for me. Or class. El is el. El is, like what Grace mentioned, a place where everyone fits. No matter what your personality, what your reputation is, el is still a place where you fit in. And I know el is a place where I can be a crazy and dramatic version of myself, without being judged.
Perhaps those of you reading this might not feel the same way as me. That's okay. I know that some day, you'll feel this way as well. Perhaps you're not convinced, or that you need the passion in you.
The passion will come. I've lost it once. And I've found it again.
I'm glad that I have el. And I hope el will shine on Wednesday.
The world my stage, el my life.
Hi ELDDS.
This is Wai Min here, your VP. I know I don't normally address the CCA as a VP. I'm not for those formal formal useless things uh huh...
This is just a very short message from me before we go for SYF this coming Wednesday. ELDDS, I urge all of you to do your best this Wednesday. I know everyone's been working hard, but I think we can do even better. We know we haven't done well enough the last 2 rehearsals at ACS Barker, but I have faith in you. ELDDS always gives our best during our performances. We will amaze the judges, and ourselves.
This Wednesday's the day. The day that we have worked so hard for, got so much scoldings for, looked forward to. It's the last lap of the race, and even more so the last for me because after this I won't be around with you guys. Guys, I love all of you, so please help me to create an album of wonderful lasting memories for the sec4s this year.
Do rest well on Tuesday, sleep early and be at your best. Wednesday morning is the time we shall all meet, and perform as a CCA. We will strive and prove to everyone what we are worth. We are worth a Gold with Honours.
I have faith in you.
Hello everyone(:
I didn't know it was Hester who has been updating this blog! Hahaha hardworking bobo:P Anyway, SYF's just 5 days away. I guess everyone's pretty much affected by CO's Gold With Honours. But I think we can still improve a lot and there's still time. No matter how little time we've got left, it's still quite a lot if you see it my way.
Can't wait for tomorrow when we have rehearsal again!
Cmon cmon people, let's give it our real best. And do more than magic on stage:D
This is why I'm hot this is why I'm hot
Oops. That was random. AHAHAHAA. Lalala!
Grace
Yes, yes, yes it is me here again. Wishing everyone best of luck for the SYF central judging in 6 more days!!! No matter whether you are part of the acting cast or backstage crew, you are still part of the show and nothing can be accomplished without you. Don't worry too much, just relax, be focus, and do your best. No matter what you get, as long as you know that you had already done your best, it would be good enough.
Just do your best, and perform magic on the stage.
Cheers.
