1st day at Boon Lay

Short Recap & Important Things to Take Note:

Physical Warm-Up
  • Leaders need to give more specific and detailed instructions
  • Exercises on the whole need to be done tighter, with focus & seriousness
Relaxation
  • Lift your elbows by the joints
  • Raise your entire arm high up into the sky & stretch as much as possible
  • Drop your arm joint by joint followed by the head
  • Take a deep breath & let go of your entire upper body (remember to bend your knees!)
  • Lift back your body joint by joint to its original position
Breathing (eg isolated breathing)
  • Place your right hand on your chest & left hand on your abdomen
  • Take a deep breath and fill in your diaphragm first before the chest in 3 counts each
  • Release your breath from your chest first before the diaphragm in 3 counts each
Voice
  • 'Resonating scales' exercise was fairly well conducted
Articulation
  • New exercise: place the tip of your tongue against your lower set of teeth & try to pronounce your name as clearly and audibly as possible
Improv
  • Stage awareness (blocking, space, bigger movements etc.) & audience awareness
  • Practise stage discipline & control -- don't break out of character
  • Challenge ourselves by resolving the issue in a different manner instead of retreating to the usual comedy/humour (our comfort zone)
Soundscape
  • The use of sound (eg mopping of floor, shuffling of feet etc.) to create tension/awkwardness against a backdrop of stillness/inaction
Reminders:
  1. 23rd's CCA session has been extended to 5pm
  2. Research on your assigned topic for 'Find Me'
  3. Write your daily reflections
