el session was held only with 5 pathetically miserable students today. ms ross was very disappointed ): ppl, this is to remind you of el's importance, you have to prioritise syf okay! we can't afford to have anybody mia, so i hope you can stay committed for el's sake.
things to take note of:
- syf is held on 6 may 10am. we have to be at acjc by 9.15am, we're the fist school to perform
- mrs crothers will be coming next week, either on friday or saturday -cue panic attack-(which is why you better be there or die T-T)
- next week's session will resume as per normal, you better turn up or else you will become the #1 public enemy, face condemnation by the entire society, be scared shitless by ms ross' fury and personally be butchered by me >(
- somebody pls bring an old-looking telephone and yellow wellingtons at the next session
- during the march hols, we might have a late 3hr session on thu. if not, fri's session would be from 9-4
- for scene 1a, all cast members are to be verities and sit on the stools in a straight line at the back. there will be varying movements and different lines uttered by each verity, creating a soundscape before narrator (alan) is to speak. eg verity can be standing on the stool and shouting "they're all dead now! you wanted them killed" or sitting on the stool and softly muttering "daddy mommy it's cold in here". after that verities will say "me" with the emotion in the context of what you were doing.
- for scene 2, Edward's lines "She'll flare up very suddenly...Nothing serious. (With an attempt at a laugh)" have been cancelled
- memorise! all! your! lines!

1st day at Boon Lay
Short Recap & Important Things to Take Note:
Physical Warm-Up
- Leaders need to give more specific and detailed instructions
- Exercises on the whole need to be done tighter, with focus & seriousness
- Lift your elbows by the joints
- Raise your entire arm high up into the sky & stretch as much as possible
- Drop your arm joint by joint followed by the head
- Take a deep breath & let go of your entire upper body (remember to bend your knees!)
- Lift back your body joint by joint to its original position
- Place your right hand on your chest & left hand on your abdomen
- Take a deep breath and fill in your diaphragm first before the chest in 3 counts each
- Release your breath from your chest first before the diaphragm in 3 counts each
- 'Resonating scales' exercise was fairly well conducted
- New exercise: place the tip of your tongue against your lower set of teeth & try to pronounce your name as clearly and audibly as possible
- Stage awareness (blocking, space, bigger movements etc.) & audience awareness
- Practise stage discipline & control -- don't break out of character
- Challenge ourselves by resolving the issue in a different manner instead of retreating to the usual comedy/humour (our comfort zone)
- The use of sound (eg mopping of floor, shuffling of feet etc.) to create tension/awkwardness against a backdrop of stillness/inaction
Reminders:
- 23rd's CCA session has been extended to 5pm
- Research on your assigned topic for 'Find Me'
- Write your daily reflections

Updates on holiday trainings so far
Hi all, here's what happened on the sessions held so far, for the benefit of those who missed el on any of these days and for those who didn't as well:
From now on, we will begin with warm-up exercises in the following areas:
1. Relaxation
2. Breathing
3. Voice
4. Articulation
The specific exercises will be taught under the guidance of certain elddians when you attend the sessions.
Games would usually follow warm-up exercises. These are easy to learn as well.
We will guide you if you have not gone through any warm-up exercises or games.
23rd Nov 09 (Monday)
1. Warm-up exercises
2. Games e.g. zip zap zop, grab-a-peg
3. Improvisation (e.g. dialogue where each line had to begin and progress with the letters in the alphabet A-Z)
24th Nov 09 (Tuesday)
1. Warm-up exercises (refer to above)
2. Games e.g. zip zap zop, grab-a-peg
3. Tone exercises
- we were given scripts to read from 3 areas: news report, advertisement, and poem, and had to read them differently according to the different genres.
4. Monologue exercises
- improvised (on the spot creation)
- scene specific (where one performs a monologue at a specific area - thsi time we did it in a part of the sch we chose)
- scripted (with the script - Arsehammers, we picked a character to do a monologue on)
These are the more important activities that happened recently.
Please be reminded that attendance are taken for each session and you NEED to provide a valid reason if you are not attending any. The script will be decided by dec.
As a reminder,
- Please inform your level reps (Y4 level reps: YiJin & Shawn, Y5 level reps: Ariel & Grace) if you are going to be late / absent for CCA and provide a valid reason accompanied with teacher's permission, parent's letter or MC.
It is mandatory to arrive at 8.30 AM for ALL sessions and begin with warm-ups before actual commencement.
- Please buy an exercise book / notebook for compulsory reflections after every session
- Please check your emails regularly for important updates
- Please also refer to our EL blog (http://rvhseldds.blogspot.com/) for a recap of our sessions just in case you forget or miss any sessions. This will aid you in your reflection-writing process as well. Updates will begin tomorrow.

REVIVED!
Hello people,
EL blog is revived again! As you know, this blog is open to all of you (100 authors in total) so please contribute to it as well (:
For a start, enthusiastic members can post a recap of 24th November's session to facilitate the reflection writing process. I was absent on that day so I'm afraid I need some help.
P.S Please email me (primaJDonna [at] gmail [dot] com) if you wish to post something but have not been added as an author.

Hello everyone,
GOOD JOB EVERYONE. By everyone, it includes the crew, lights sounds people, our coaches and teachers, and the year 5 seniors for coaching us in your free time. Couldn't have done it without any of your help. The year 3s, the unsung heroes (to quote someone I cant remember who), who repainted our scrolls about 4 times. The year 1s for being our stage hands (I've only recently discovered it is HANDS and not HENS. Which was super funny to me...no wonder..) The ones who weren't directly involved with syf but still supported us. The cast, for putting up our best performance to date.
I'm so proud of all of you :)
Well...now it's the wait for the results. Whatever it is, we've done our best, had fun, learnt and grow through these months. And that's what's the most important.
GO EL!
